Description
From the imagination of Harald Kastlunger who is still designing these wonderfu, whimsical nativity pieces for the LEPI studios in Italy. Tails are surely flicking with anticipation as the chef prepares a nutty porridge for his forest friends. This grouping includes the chef, the stand with the tray, bowls, and squirrel, and the little squirrel by the chef's feet. The stable shown in the background of the photo is not included.
This 5.25 inch scale (13 cm) Nativity set is hand-carved from Alpine Maple, which is indigenous to the Groden Valley and is used for all LEPI woodcarvings. The wood is dried naturally for two years, then kiln dried for two weeks, reducing the wood to a moisture content of 8-12%. This enables the carvings to be in families for generations without any cracking or damage to the wood. Purchases of any LEPI woodcarvings are viewed as family heirlooms and are passes from generation to generation. Each piece of this exquisite Nativity has been hand-carved and hand-painted in the LEPI workshops in Italy after the original models made by the master woodcarver Harald Kastlunger. This expressive Nativity is not only an heirloom, but a magnificent work of art!
