Description
The captivating artistry of Harald Kastlunger is surely evident in this nativity piece. A man stops in his journey to play the flute for the infant Jesus. He sits atop his suitcases and loos to be tapping his foot as he plays. A small red bird sits on his shoulder.
This 5.25 inch scale (13 cm) Nativity set is handcarved from Alpine Maple, which is indigenous to the Groden Valley and is used for all LEPI woodcarvings. The wood is dried naturally for two years, then kiln dried for two weeks, reducing the wood to a moisture content of 8-12%. This enables the carvings to be in families for generations without any cracking or damage to the wood. Purchases of any LEPI woodcarvings are viewed as family heirlooms and are passes from generation to generation. Each piece of this exquisite Nativity has been handcarved and handpainted in the LEPI workshops in Italy after the original models made by the master woodcarver Harald Kastlunger. This expressive Nativity is not only an heirloom, but a magnificent work of art!
