The 5.25 inch scale (13 cm) LEPI Kastlunger nativity set is made in Italy from Alpine Maple, which is indigenous to Val Gardena / Gröden Valley in Northern Italy and is used for all LEPI nativity woodcarvings. The wood is dried naturally for two years, then kiln dried for two weeks, reducing the wood to a moisture content of 8-12%. This enables the carvings to be in families for generations without any cracking or damage to the wood.
Each piece of this exquisite nativity has been handcarved and handpainted in the LEPI workshops in Italy after the original models made by the master woodcarver Harald Kastlunger. This expressive Nativity is not only an heirloom, but a magnificent work of art!
