An exquisite nativity set, handmade in Jordan from Olive Wood.
Beautiful, heirloom quality pieces are 6.5 inch scale and are carved in the Middle East from olive trees like those that would have sheltered Mary and Joseph as they traveled from Nazareth to Bethlehem.
Figures in our Jordanian nativity include Jesus and crib (Jesus can be removed from the crib), Mary, Joseph, 3 Wisemen, 3 Camels, Shepherd holding a sheep, Resting sheep, Ox, and Donkey.
The wooden stable is also included in this set. It can be easily assembled and then disassembled to store flat.
Two of the camels have packs from the journey of the 3 Wisemen. The donkey has a pack from Mary and Joseph's journey to Bethlehem.
The natural grain of the olive wood is beautifully enhanced by a clear lacquer that is applied to the figures. Each nativity piece reveals a unique pattern of warm earth tones natural to the olive wood.

The quality of the Nativity is quite good. Neither my husband nor I liked the lacquer finish. It gave the pieces a plastic look. We returned the set. If the finish had been natural, we would have kept it.
