Description

Mazapán is a traditional hard dough made from wheat flour and water used for making figures such as this Colombian nativity set. Mazapán is not to be confused with Marzapan, which is an almond paste.

Each piece of the Mazapán nativity set is shaped by hand.  We just love the tranquil greens and blues this 8 piece nativity set.

Fair trade imported from Colombia. Figures measure approx. 2-1/2" high x 3/4" diameter. See more nativity scenes Colombia.

These nativities are made by artisans at Piel Acida, a craft producing organization started by Ms. Ana Piedrahita in 1995 in Bogota, Colombia. The organization has grown to support artisans all over the country creating traditional and contemporary craft products as well as providing insurance, educational assistance, loans and other services.

This has special meaning for me because I had a foreign exchange student from Colombia live with me for a year back in 2007. She is my second daughter.
