Description
Both chocolate and Masapán (a traditional craft of bread sculpture made using maize) are traditional products of Ecuador. This Ecuadorian nativity scene features Masapán figures, a Cacao pod shelter and a star made from Star Anise. Nativity scene is hand made in Ecuador by Rosa Inez, her family, and a team of local women from the community of Calderon, Ecuador. They incorporate both masapán and found objects to create brghtly colored and whimsical nativities.
Nativity scene measures approximately 3 inches wide and 4 inches tall, however some variation is common as the nativity is handmade.
This Nativity scene was acquired through a Fair Trade organization. Fair Trade pays impoverished artisans a fair price for their work. Fair Trade puts people first, not profits.
