Description
Lovingly handmade in Chile to represent the nativity scene as portrayed in the traditional dress of the Selknam tribe of Chile. The Selknam people held deep spiritual beliefs including faith in a creator and worship of one main deity. The Selknam tribe inhabited the northeastern part of Tierra del Fuego and were hunted to near extinction during the Selknam Genocide from 1880-1900s. The Chilean artist who makes these nativity scenes does so to spotlight the diversity and culture of Chile and incorporates a minimum of 40% reused materials.
The Selk-Nam nativity scene is approximately 5 inches tall. As each one if handmade, variations in style are possible.
