Artist Juanita Bower has been creating clay figurines since the age of 11. She has been showing her creations at Festivals and Craft Shows for 25 years concentrating on Southwestern pieces such as storytellers. In 1989, she was honored to have her Southwest Bells displayed on one of the Christmas Trees at the White House. In 2010, she started creating different pieces like churches and nativities. Her colors and artwork are influenced by her surroundings in the Southwest. She favors Terra Cotta because terra cotta is representative of the rich red clay of New Mexico. One of her sons is disabled and on a ventilator. She works at home which makes it easier for him to be part of the family business. She is currently working on new designs.
