Description
The infant Jesus is snuggled warmly in our igloo nativity scene. The Holy Family are dressed as Baffin Island Inuit - the native Inuit population of Baffin Island in Canada - although many Inuit populations dressed much the same way. They would wear polar bear hide clothing, caribou or rabbit hide footwear, and parkas trimmed in wolf or wolverine fur. The polar bear is native to the Inuit's part of the world, The penguin paying a visit is a creative embellishment as penguins don't live in this part of the world - perhaps why the polar bear cub is looking so curiously at the strange little bird who has traveled so far to visit the Christ child.
Handmade from ceramic in Peru. This nativity set is all one piece and measures 4 inches wide, 3 inches tall, and 3.5 inches deep.
Fair Trade imported. Fair Trade pays artisans a fair wage for their work.
