Description
Kenyan safari animals and bright cotton fabrics bring the enchantment of the African savannah to the nativity story. Kenyan artists beautifully recreate the nativity scene as imagined in the African wilderness. The holy family finds shelter in the shade of the acacia tree while the gentle giraffe gazes at the newborn baby Jesus, the regal lion offers its humble presence to the King of kings, the rhino (or hippo in some sets) stands steadfast and protective, and the graceful zebra bows its head to the infant Jesus.
Joseph stands 7 inches tall. As each safari nativity scene is handmade, variations in fabrics makes each set unique. Sets include the holy family, acacia tree, lion, giraffe, zebra, and rhino or hippo.
Fair trade imported. Fair trade pays artisans a living wage for their work and puts people first, not profits.

Kenyan cloth Nativity Scene
I'm very pleased. I knew each set is unique, but am very pleased that the one I received included a giraffe, lion, rhino and very cute elephant. I also like that in the particular set received, one of Joseph's arms extends so he can be posed with an arm embracing Mary, and he has a beard. I think this set would be a big hit with children (or anyone who appreciates handcrafting).
